We'll need a big trap for this rat.

The Witchwood reveal season is well underway, and the expansion is starting to shape what kind of meta it will usher in. Hunter seems like it will play into that meta with its Spell Hunter deck that is already popular currently.

Rat Trap is a two mana spell, like every other Hunter Secret, and will summon a 6/6 rat if your opponent plays three cards in one turn. The rat will spawn after the third card your opponent plays.

This card may fit into Spell Hunter since it’s another secret that will help your Eaglehorn Bow maintain its durability and will buff up the Hunter Spellstone. This Secret will be dependent on what type of deck and class you are facing off against.

In aggressive-style decks, your opponent is likely to play multiple cards in a turn, which would trigger the Secret pretty quickly and give you a big minion on the board to deal with those threats. As for classes, some Priest decks frequently play three or more cards in a turn due to their cheap spells and certain activations they are going for, like trying to get a minion’s health high and then playing Inner Fire.

We will have to wait and see whether Rat Trap will factor into Spell Hunter decks or if The Witchwood meta is such that a card like Rat Trap is not efficient due to your opponent playing few cards every turn.

You can currently pre-order 50 cards for $49.99 and receive an additional 20 cards plus a card back before the expansion is released in April.
