Hearthstone is—in theory—a free-to-play game. That means that Hearthstone players are bound to love free stuff.
Well, you’re in luck. Today you can get 100 gold for doing absolutely nothing. All you have to do is login and the gold is yours.
The reward is to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day, which of course I’m sure everyone has circled on their calendars every year.
The free gold isn’t the only way that Hearthstone is celebrating this monumental holiday. All of the game’s heroes have pirate-themed emotes to greet each other with. Ever wondered what Malfurion would sound like if he sailed the seven seas? Now you know.
Of course in Hearthstone‘s history, there have been periods of the meta where it seems every day is Talk Like a Pirate Day. When every other ladder game features Patches’ sneering face, it’s hard to get excited for sea-faring.
The event comes one day after Patch 9.1 went live. The patch included nerfs to Fiery War Axe, Spreading Plague, Hex, Innervate, and Murloc Warleader.
Those changes were made to address both the strength of Druid in the current meta game, and the persistent power of some of the game’s Classic and Basic set cards.
