Blizzard just announced the exciting new Rise of the Mech update coming June 3.
As part of Rise of the Mech event, Blizzard will be what it calls a Mechanical Inn-vitational.
The Mechanical-Innvitational will feature an exciting new format and will include streamers from all around the world. Blizzard is keeping the identities of participants secret for now, but the regional spread of participants can be seen below.
For the event, participants will be divided into teams of two players. Teams will be able to craft decks using a limited number of resources. Teams will be able to craft decks using 20 card packs from the Classic, Witchwood, Boomsday Project, and Rastakhan’s Rubmle sets. Teams will also receive 40 Rise of Shadows packs and 5,000 gold. Additionally, they will have access to all of the cards that will be buffed in the Rise of the Mech update.
The event will feature players from North America playing live on set against teams from around the world. Players partaking in the event won’t be able to earn gold through Arena, or from Ranked play wins or daily quests. Players will be rewarded with a point anytime they secure a victory. Points can be used later in the tournament to purchase perks as well as one set of additional packs. Pack choices include six Rise of Shadows packs, nine Witchwood packs, nine Boomsday packs, or nine Rastakhan’s Rumble packs.
Blizzard says that, to keep things fair, all competitors will be given the same additional variety of packs that the on-stream teams open after they win a match. Teams will be able to modify one deck between each game. Before the finals, points earned previously in the event can be spent on one of three perks.
One perk allows you to disenchant a card from either of your opponent’s decks per point earned. Your opponent has to replace it with a different card. Another perk allows you to spend a point to open a set of packs of your choosing. For this perk, teams will choose from any set available from previous rounds. The third perk is a bit mysterious and reads exactly as follows: “If a team has earned the maximum of four points, they can redeem them all to… well, you’ll just have to see!”
You can watch the event starting June 3 on each participating player’s stream where they will be opening card packs. On June 4 at 10am CT the Mechanical Inn-vitational will be streamed live on the players’ Twitch channels, as well as on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel. The identities of participants will be revealed in the days leading up to the event, so keep your eyes peeled.
