In the Un’Goro meta, the best Hunter deck is often linear and inflexible. You hope to draw and play your cards on curve, make the right trades, and hope that’s enough to secure a win. This linear game forces Hunter into constant aggressive archetypes, even if the class’ individual card power isn’t enough to sustain it in the current metagame.
Knights of the Frozen Throne, Hearthstone’s next expansion, adds a little more flexibility to the Hunter class in the form of Stitched Tracker.
Stitched Tracker is a three mana 2/2 that discovers a minion in your deck when it enters the battlefield. Find another copy of Savannah Highmane against the control matchup or discover a Houndmaster to stem the tide against an aggressive board state.
Stitched Tracker and fellow Frozen Throne Hunter minion, Abomination Archer, give Hunter players some resource advantage options that haven’t been available to the class in a while. Perhaps these two cards together will allow the Hunter to play a slower, more value-oriented game with Deathstalker Rexxar in the coming expansion.
The three mana slot is already pretty crowded in the Hunter class. Eaglehorn Bow, Animal Companion, and Cloaked Huntress have seen their fair share of play over the class’ history. Bearshark is another Frozen Throne minion that reinforces Hunter’s linear aggression. Choosing which group to put in your deck may get tricky moving forward—cuts will have to be made.
Knights of the Frozen Throne has no set release date, but looks to release sometime in mid-August. Players can pre-order packs in anticipation of the next expansion.
