We’re getting closer to the release of the Eclipse Leona skins. Today, the in-game client login screen for the skins was added to the PBE client—and it’s stunning.
Beginning with the Solar Eclipse variant of the skin, the login screen features Leona standing in front of the sun in the midst of an eclipse. Once the sun is fully eclipsed, a beam of light shines atop of Leona, transforming the champion into her Lunar eclipse skin variant. The same process occurs, turning Leona back into her Solar Eclipse form, though with the moon being eclipsed instead of the sun.
Leona’s two new Eclipse skins will debut League of Legends‘ new category of skins, called variants. “Variants have some similarities and differences from their counterparts,” Riot Games’ product manager Carlos Giffoni said in the announcement forum post. Unlike Chromas, which only provide recolors to established skins and champion base models, variants provide new models and splash arts.
In addition to Leona’s Eclipse skins, the Star Guardians will also be getting skin variants. Named the Pajama Guardians, this new skin theme will give Star Guardian Lux, Ezreal, Miss Fortune, Soraka, and Lulu kigurumi skin variants.
Those who own the Star Guardian skins will get a 30 percent discount on their Pajama Guardians counterparts, and vice versa. The same discount will be applied to the two Eclipse Leona skins.
While the Pajama Guardian skins will be priced at 1,350 RP, Leona’s Eclipse variants will cost 1,820 RP since they are legendary skins. There is currently no release date for the Pajama Guardians and Eclipse Leona skin variants.
