Today marked Day 2 Week 4 of the European League Championship Series (EU LCS) and Day 1 Week 4 of the North American League Championship Series (NA LCS).
From Unicorns of Love showing signs of life to G2 Esports dominating as usual, here’s how Day 2, Week 1 went down:
(3-3-2) FC Schalke 04 2-0 Giants Gaming (2-1-5)
Game 1: S04 won the first game by a significant margin. The team kills were 21-5 in favor of S04. All of the members of S04 put up big numbers, but it was the bot-lane duo of AD-carry Rasmus “MrRalleZ” Skinneholm and Hampus “sprattel” Abrahamsson who went 6/0/11 as Jhin and 2/2/12 as Thresh.
Game 2: S04 won the second game, but in a very different way than the first. The team kills were 11-7 in favor of Giants. S04 was behind in gold the entire game, but a 44-minute Baron along with a late-game teamfight led to an S04 victory.
(5-2-1) Fnatic 2-0 ROCCAT (1-4-3)
Game 1: Fnatic won the first game easily. The team kills were 26-17 in favor of Fnatic. Fnatic saw their entire team do well, but the best performance was by mid-laner Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten, who went 13/2/11 as Azir.
Game 2: Fnatic won the second in a more dominant fashion than the first. The team kills were 24-5 in favor of Fnatic. Again, the entire team did well, but the bot-lane duo of AD-carry Martin “Rekkles” Larsson and support Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim who went 8/1/12 as Ezreal and 0/1/19 as Karma.
(4-4-0) G2 Esports TIE Team Vitality (1-5-2)
Game 1: G2 won the closely contested first game. The team kills were 8-3 in favor of G2. The game was close until G2 took down Baron at 25 minutes and then snowballed to win the game three minutes later.
Game 2: Vitality struck back at G2 in a surprising fashion, taking the win. The team kills were 22-8 in favor of Vitality. All of Vitality did well, with each player dropping at least 10 assists. However, it was Vitality’s bot-lane duo of AD-carry Park “Police” Hyeong-gi and support Raymond “KaSing” Tsang who went 9/1/10 as Ashe and 1/2/18 as Braum.
(2-1-5) Unicorns of Love 2-0 H2K (3-4-1)
Game 1: UOL came out strong, taking down H2K in the first game. The team kills were 10-5 in favor of UOL. The jungler for UOL, Kang “Move” Min-su, put up the best numbers of the game, going 4/0/3 as Elise.
Game 2: Again, UOL came out strong and completed the upset on H2K. The team kills 20-8 in favor of UOL. The entire UOL squad did well, but it was mid-laner Fabian “Exileh” Schubert who did the best, going 8/0/6 as Vladmir.
(2-4-2) Splyce TIE Origen (1-4-3)
Game 1: Splyce won the first match after coming back in the mid-game. The team kills were 13-9 in favor of Splyce. The top performer of the match was Splyce AD-carry Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup, who went 8/1/3 as Lucian.
Game 2: Origen struck back at Splyce, tying the series. The team kills were 19-12 in favor of Origen. Origen took an early lead and sailed to victory. The charge was led by mid-laner Chres “PowerOfEvil” Laursen, who went 8/3/6 as Syndra.
(6-1) Immortals 2-1 Counter Logic Series (2-5)
Game 1: CLG came out strong, shocking Immortals and taking the first game. The team kills 15-7 in favor of CLG. The defending champions found themselves in a back-and-forth match that was blown open after CLG took a Baron 29-minutes in. The top performer of the match was CLG AD-carry Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes, who went 7/0/5 as Ezreal.
Game 2: Immortals struck back, evening out the series. The team kills were 11-3 in favor of Immortals. All members of Immortals remained deathless except for top-laner Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon. The top performer of the match was Immortals jungler Eugene “Pobelter” Park, who went 4/0/5 as Vladmir.
Game 3: Immortals took the third game in a dominant fashion. The team kills were 26-9 in favor of Immortals. The regular season champions dominated throughout the entire game, never losing a gold lead to CLG. The top performer and official player of the game was Pobelter, who went 9/2/5 as Viktor.
(4-3) Team Liquid vs. Apex (3-4)
Game 1: Liquid and Apex both started out shaky, but Liquid pulled it together and ended up with a win. The team kills were 20-10 in favor of Team Liquid. Liquid had complete Baron and Dragon control, making team fights and split pushing much more effective. The top performance of the match was done by Liquid mid-laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hoon, who went 9/3/7 as Viktor.
Game 2: The second match followed the same pattern as the first, resulting in a Liquid win. The team kills were 18-11 in favor of Liquid. The top performance of the match was done by Liquid mid-laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hoon, who went 10/2/4 as LeBlanc.
