After nine weeks of competition, the final standings in the European League Championship Series (LCS) spring split have been decided. And it’s not exactly what was expected following the turbulent off-season.
At the top end of the table is G2 Esports, who have pushed on to take the number one spot. This split is their debut in the LCS, and they’ve upset the entire field to claim victory and the best possible seeding into the playoffs. Rookie Luka “PerkZ” Perkovic has proven to be one of the best mid laners in the region in his first-ever split.
H2K Gaming, who struggled with roster issues throughout the season—like when mid laner Yoo “Ryu” Sang-ook was forced to miss several weeks due to visa issues—have secured second place and an automatic seed into the semifinals.
Vitality made a good push for top two towards the end of the season but fell short at the final hurdle. They grab themselves the top quarterfinal seed and will face off against Fnatic, who ended the split in sixth place with a 9-9 record. On the other side of the bracket is Unicorns of Love and Origen. Origen only just pipped out the Unicorns regular season record, finishing with just one more victory at 11-7.
Meanwhile at the bottom of the table, Elements barely secured their spot in the summer split, finishing at 6-12. Just below them is Splyce at 5-13, the Danish side will go up against the winner of Copenhagen Wolves vs GIANTS Gaming to try and battle for their spot in the summer split.
Narrowly avoiding the bottom spot is Team Roccat, who will face Challenger Series winners Team Huma in the relegation tournament.
