Since the departure of Fnatic mid-lane legend Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez the organization has been linked with primarily one name to replace him: Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten. The Daily Dot can confirm that the current H2K mid-laner, who had only just secured a spot with his team in the LCS during the European expansion tournament, has indeed accepted an offer to join Fntaic.

Sources both from within Fnatic and close to the player have confirmed that Diepstraten is now at the contract stage stating that he “belongs to fnatic now.”

“He has wanted to join for a month now” one person said. “He believes that the new team Fnatic are going to assemble will be better than H2K and that joining them will give him more exposure.”

The move will come as a disappointment to the H2K organization, who had denied the move was happening on several occasions. However speculation became more intense the last few days following a representative of H2K confirming the move on a Romanian stream. Prior to that, the player had tweeted on Dec. 21 that he had a big announcement coming soon.

Fnatic are still currently scrambling to assemble their roster following a mass exodus and with the departure of top-laner Paul “sOAZ” Boyer, the Diepstraten’s signing is a more than welcome piece of positivity during a fairly awful off-season for the European powerhouse.

For H2K, finding a replacement has been fairly straightforward. The team have already brought in Ryu “Ryu” Sang-ook who was last seen in action as a stand-in for Team ROCCAT at IEM Cologne following his departure from Millenium. “Ryu has already met up with the players and spent time with the team,” One source from H2K told us. “They all get along really well and this is going to be a great fit for everyone.”
