Three weeks after finishing the 2019 LCK Spring Split, Gen.G has made its first roster move of the mid-season break with the addition of jungler Yoon “SeongHwan” Seong-hwan, the team announced earlier today.
“We believe SeongHwan will show top performances like he did in LCK and in TCL,” Gen.G said in its announcement tweet. Formerly Hanwha Life Esports’ jungler for two years, SeongHwan parted ways with the organization at the end of 2018.
In February, SeongHwan ventured off to Turkey, where he played in the TCL as Beşiktaş Esports’ jungler. Ending the TCL Winter season in seventh with Beşiktaş, SeongHwan left the organization shortly after the Winter season ended and declared his free agency.
SeongHwan will be sharing the jungle position with Gen.G’s current jungler Han “Peanut” Wang-ho, who joined the team just prior to the 2019 season. Gen.G hasn’t revealed yet if Peanut will retain his starting position.
Gen.G ended the LCK Spring Split in seventh, the team’s worst placing since 2015, when Gen.G, then under the Samsung organization, finished the inaugural LCK split in eighth.
Following an underwhelming group stage exit at the 2018 World Championship, Gen.G made large changes to its roster, parting ways with Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong, Kang “Haru” Min-seung, Lee “Crown” Min-ho, and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in.
It’s unknown at this time if Gen.G plans to make more roster changes before the 2019 LCK Summer Split begins.
