Gen.G’s jungler Wang-ho “Peanut” Han has tested positive for COVID-19, the organization revealed today in a statement.
As a result, the player has been forced to self-quarantine and will almost certainly miss out on today’s match against Liiv SANDBOX and Saturday’s clash with T1 in the 2022 LCK Spring Split.
Support player Si-woo “Lehends” Son and head coach Dong-bin “Score” Ko are also set to self-quarantine for 10 days after coming into contact with Peanut. This decision is required by Korea’s quarantine guidelines.
To prevent further infection, Gen.G will be sanitizing the team’s offices, training facilities, and players’ living facilities.
The team will most likely have to field substitutes for Peanut and Lehends in today’s match against Liiv SANDBOX. Gen.G Academy’s support Joon-hyeong “Lospa” Park has already been called to replace Lehends. And Gen.G Academy jungler Woo “Winner” Joo-sung will presumably sub in for Peanut.
This outbreak isn’t the first in the LCK this year. The league is fighting with a recent surge in infections. In the past few days, Nongshim RedForce and DRX received positive test results from players. The latter was forced to use substitutes in yesterday’s game against KT Rolster.
