Golden Guardians’ mid laner, Son “Mickey” Young-min, celebrated his birthday today by gifting his team an 8/1/6 performance on Zoe. But to gain such a monstrous scoreline, Mickey needed an initial kill to begin his snowball against 100 Thieves. And that first kill was found just as minions began to spawn one minute into the game.

With Zoe’s Sleepy Trouble Bubble, Mickey caught an unsuspecting Andy “AnDa” Hoang, who he and his teammates pursued until the 100 Thieves jungler had fallen. With this first kill, Mickey’s destruction of 100 Thieves across Summoner’s Rift began.

Although Golden Guardians’ bot lane had a lead against their lane opponents, the duo bulldozed through 100 Thieves’ outer turret thanks to a dive courtesy of Mickey and jungler Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia. Mickey gained a decent lane lead thanks to his first blood and used his advantage to help accelerate his bot lane, which already held a ton of pressure.

Mickey continued this roaming-focused play even after Golden Guardians destroyed the bot lane turret, and his efforts were rewarded with many kills, assists, and gold.

In no time, Mickey became a damage powerhouse who shredded almost all of 100 Thieves within a single rotation of abilities. 100 Thieves’ only hope came in the form of their top laner, Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho, who found a lead in the laning phase as Dr. Mundo and became a well-fed tank.

But even Ssumday’s Dr. Mundo was no match for Mickey and Golden Guardians, who layered multiple forms of crowd control and damage abilities onto the tank top laner whenever he came close.

After securing their fourth win of the Summer Split thus far, Golden Guardians are already one win away from surpassing their Spring Split record (4-14). Golden Guardians will look for their fifth victory on July 21 when they face CLG.
