It took almost no time for Griffin to dispatch of Damwon, demolishing the rookie team 2-0 on Saturday morning. With this win, Griffin secured a spot in the LCK final and solidified their status in first place for the 2019 Spring Split.
Game one was a dominant display from Griffin, who always looked one step ahead of Damwon. Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong secured first blood in the bot lane off a counter-gank for Griffin before the game spiralled out of control for Damwon, who relied on getting ahead early. Griffin took Baron as soon as 20 minutes ticked over and finished the game eight minutes later.
If game one was dominant, game two was utterly commanding from Griffin. After getting ahead in all lanes, they proceeded to toy with Damwon for the last 15 minutes of the game with their massive advantage. Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon secured his 12th MVP performance of the split after going 6/0/7 on Lissandra and dominating Heo “ShowMaker” Su’s Swain.
Griffin will face the winner of the LCK gauntlet in the grand finals, and they’ve also secured a spot at Rift Rivals. For Damwon, the playoffs are still in sight, but they must beat either Gen.G or KT in week 10 to qualify.
Griffin will play Kingzone DragonX on March 29, while Damwon will be fighting to lock in their playoff spot against Gen.G on March 28.
