Unicorns of Love jungler Cho “H0R0” Jae-hwan has finally arrived in Berlin after visa issues threatened to keep him off the stage for the League Championship Series playoffs.
Cho, who arrived in Berlin earlier this week, will now compete with the team in its upcoming matches against Team ROCCAT.
Cho joined the Unicorns along with two other players—Karim “Airwaks” Benghalia and Berk “Gilius” Demir—on July 14, shortly after jungler Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek resigned. But Cho wasn’t able to obtain a work visa on time, and the team listed him as a substitute. Two weeks later, however, he now has the proper visa in hand and will replace Demir in the starting jungler role.
“[Cho is] really a likable guy with a lot of individual talent but we’re yet to find out how strong we’re together, especially with the short amount of time we only have to play together,” Unicorns of Love manager Fabian “Sheepy” Mallant told the Daily Dot. “I’m personally really confident and everyone is prepared to bring their best to the table to be successful for playoffs.”
Cho was previously a member of the SK Telecom T1 S squad, competing with the squad in OnGameNet Champions since December of 2012. When the SK Telecom organization was forced to merge its S team (due to an OnGameNet rule change) with sister squad SKT T1 K, Cho explored other options.
Eventually, he joined French organization Millennium in its attempt to re-qualify for the League Championship Series through the 2015 Expansion Tournament, but they were knocked out in the second round by GIANTS! Gaming.
Cho’s European adventure continued, however. He moved on to Supa Hot Crew, who were acquired by MeetYourMakers on Dec. 8. He struggled in the MeetYourMakers team due to the language barrier, and eventually left on June 1 amid a series of widely reported internal problems with the team.
The team ended the season with a 5-13 record and disbanded shortly after being auto-relegated by Origen. Cho returned to Korea, but now the Unicorns are his ticket to returning to the European big stage.
