H2k, who are already having a difficult EU LCS season, will be without starting mid laner Marcin “Selfie” Wolski for a second straight week. It was revealed on the broadcast last week that Selfie was dealing with what was described as a “medical emergency.”
Selfie seems to be recovering from the illness all right, but still isn’t quite 100 percent. He tweeted on Thursday that his doctor is holding him out for this week’s games. He’ll be replaced by Emil “Larssen” Larsson, a rookie playing his first LCS game. His first opponent? Only G2’s Luka “Perkz” Perković, one of the best players in all of Europe. No big deal.
Losing Selfie is another big blow for an organization that’s had it’s worst competitive season in the region. We had an inkling that things would be tough when the organization built around five Academy players.
But some good results at the end of the Spring Split gave H2k fans some hope. Instead, it’s been even worse in summer, with the team failing to pick up a single match victory through six weeks of play.
Now at 0-12 in the standings, H2k are desperate for any sort of momentum. They’re out of the playoffs, but with the franchising process for EU currently underway, the organization needs to show Riot that it is capable of fielding a competent team.
So no pressure, Larssen. The team’s future in the LCS could be up to you.
