The past week of League of Legends provided some clarity to the top of the standings in the four major international leagues.
Team SoloMid and SK Gaming secured their holds on the top spots in the NA and EU League Championship Series by besting some of their closest rivals. In Korea, the league leading and undefeated GE Tigers shut down upstart SK Telecom T1. In China, Edward Gaming jumped even further ahead of rivals OMG after they faltered against LGD Gaming.

This week’s top individual performer was Winterfox marksman Johnny “Altec” Ru. The young up-and-coming player finally made good on the promise he showed in last year’s rookie season with a stellar week in wins against Team Impulse and Cloud9. Ru put up a 10/1/12 KDA line against Team Impulse on Graves and followed it up with an 8/0/7 KDA against Cloud9 on the same champion, good for a 37.0 KDA. He added a whopping 9.86 CSPM while participating in 80.4 percent of his team’s kills, helping Winterfox climb into a five-way tie for third with a 4-4 record.
Next week one match dominates the docket: Fnatic vs. SK Gaming, “el classico.” Europe’s longest standing esports rivalry pits the 8-0 SK Gaming against the 6-2 Fnatic in a battle for the top of the EU LCS, with extra stakes: If Fnatic wins, they have a shot at earning an invitation to the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice tournament, where the best teams in the world’s top leagues will collide.
