Jin Air Green Wings have had a turbulent LCK Summer 2019. Only claiming one game win in their first 12 series against KT Rolster, the veteran team has failed to find success in 2019. They broke the drought against Afreeca this morning, however, claiming their first win for the season.

Moon “Route” Geom-su was the MVP for Jin Air for game one after a show-stopping 7/1/2 performance on Tristana helped them take the series lead. Game two fell the way of Afreeca in dominant fashion, leaving many Jin Air fans feeling the same dread they’ve felt all season long.

Game three was in the balance after Jin Air strode out to a fast lead with a poor tower dive from Afreeca. A rocky team fight at 30 minutes saw the in-lead Jin Air almost throw a 10,000 gold advantage away, but a great Baron steal from support Park “Nova” Chan-ho turned the tides back around as they took the series.

Jin Air veteran Lee “Grace” Chan-ju was given MVP honors for game three with a stellar Syndra match, finishing with a 5/1/3 stat line and over 25 percent of the team’s damage.

Emotions were high for the squad, who hadn’t seen a win since July 31 last year, where they reverse swept Griffin 2-1. Twitter also went into a frenzy after the victory, with many posting the Gladplane in flight once again.

For players like Route, this is the first time they’ve ever tasted success on the LCK stage. For Grace, it’s a return to the victory table. But for all the team it’s a monumental win, just in time to possibly turn their season around and avoid relegation.

Their next series is against Hanwha Life Esports on March 9.
