A League Challenger Series bottom-dweller is set to add former MeetYourMakers mid laner Marcin “Kori” Wolski.
Wolski will join up with jungler Tinh Tri “K0u” Lam, who debuted for Vortex in last week’s matches. The team currently sits in last place in the North American Challenger series without a single victory to its name after 0-2 defeats at the hands of Team Imagine, Cloud9 Tempest, and Team Coast.
The pair were originally planning to make a move into the North American Challenger Series together under the banner of DT Esports, an organization associated with Call of Duty that planned to buy a Challenger Series spot from the disbanding Team Fusion. That plan fell through when Riot Games ruled that Team Fusion could not have control over the vacant spot due to losing three-fifths of their roster.
Vortex’s current midlaner, Aaron “Bischu” Kim, has the lowest KDA of any other player in his position and has failed to live up to expectations. The team apparently added Wolski to the roster before the 6pm PT deadline on July 11, and the player is already set up at the gaming house that the team shares with fellow Challenger outfit Team Coast, according to sources close to the team. Wolski could feature for Vortex when they take on fellow last-place side Winterfox this week.
Wolski hasn’t seen competitive play since the final League Championship Series match of the Spring Season, when he and MeetYourMakers were relegated from the league. The team went through a rough season, which culminated when Wolski tried to leave the team due to missing payments. That resulted in various threats from team management—including that the team would take his mother’s house if he didn’t return, as she had co-signed his contract. He eventually returned. But despite a strong finish to the season, the damage had been done and Wolski departed the team after the split.
