Misfits turned around a poor early game to take down Team Vitality earlier today, extending their win streak to eight in week four of the European LCS.
The early game went heavily in Vitality’s favor. A drawn out level one fight around Misfits’ red buff handed Vitality jungler Erberk “Gilius” Demir first blood and a massive lead over his counterpart, Nubar “Maxlore” Sarafian. Later, he stole the Infernal Drake from Maxlore, and Misfits star marksman Steven “Hans Sama” Liv died in the two-vs-two early on.
Gilius didn’t do much with his lead on Nocturne, though, allowing Misfits to stall the game and giving Maxlore time to catch up in experience. As the first few fights broke out, however, he made his presence felt. Gilius tunneled onto Hans Sama every fight with his ultimate, Paranoia, and deleted him. The instant five-vs-four put a couple fights in their favor early on, but a misstep around Baron turned the game on its head.
Vitality tried to bait out Baron, turning on Misfits when they came to check the buff. Gilius once again melted Hans Sama, but he dove too deep and traded his life. Barney “Alphari” Morris’ Poppy completely nullified Amadeu “Attila” Carvalho’s lead by ulting him out of every fight, and stellar play by Alphari and mid laner Chres “Sencux” Laursen ended in a won fight for Misfits and the Baron.
After securing the Baron, Misfits played methodically and slowly took down Vitality’s base. Despite a few missteps, the team finished the game with a second Baron.
Misfits are now the only undefeated team remaining in either LCS region, and their win over G2 yesterday solidified them as the best in Europe. But Vitality proved even giants can bleed, throwing punch after punch at Misfits in the early and mid game.
Misfits will look to extend their win streak to nine next week against Roccat, while Vitality will try to bounce back against G2 Esports.
