Today marked the third and final day of Week 6 of the North American League Championship Series (NA LCS).
From Team SoloMid remaining undefeated to Phoenix1 almost taking down Counter Logic Gaming, here’s how Day 3, Week 6 went down:
(12-0) Team SoloMid 2-0 Apex (5-7)
Game 1: The first game was a pretty standard win for TSM. No loss of gold lead, objective control and better teamfighting led TSM to win, as most viewers expected. The top performance of the game was TSM mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, who went 7/0/5 as Taliyah.
Game 2: The second game was a little more competitive due to Apex taking some Dragons and a Baron, but it still was not enough for a win. TSM faced a few challenges after 20-minutes, but TSM top laner Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell (5/0/13 as Shen) gave a great performance and prevented any type of comeback for Apex.
(7-5) Cloud9 2-0 NRG Esports (3-9)
Game 1: C9 looked simply better than NRG in the first game. NRG was only able to get two towers and two kills all game, whereas C9 nabbed 11 towers and seven kills. C9 mid laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen had the match’s best performance, going 3/1/4 as Taliyah.
Game 2: The second match was much closer, coming down to the wire. In the 45-minute slugfest, C9 edged out the win thanks to a well-timed Baron call. NRG’s bot lane duo of ADC Oh “ohq” Gyu-min (11/2/9 as Lucian) and support Alan “KiWiKiD” Nguyen (3/5/16 as Karma) did well, but C9’s bot lane duo of ADC Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi (12/2/12 as Jhin) and support Michael “BunnyFuFu” Kurylo (1/2/16 as Bard) prevailed in the end.
(6-6) Counter Logic Gaming 2-1 Phoenix1 (2-10)
Game 1: The first match was going in favor of CLG until a bad Baron fight took place, and P1 snowballed into the lead and never looked back. Better objective control is what pushed P1 over the edge to take down CLG. The best performance of the match came from P1’s bot lane duo of ADC Brandon “Mash” Phan (7/1/12 as Sivir) and support Austin “Gate” Yu (2/3/15 as Braum).
Game 2: The second match started in CLG’s favor, but there was no bad Baron fight to bring P1 into the game here. CLG played well, while P1 was trying to figure out what to do to find a lead. The best performance of the match came from CLG mid laner Choi “Huhi” Jae-hyu, who went 5/0/6 as Viktor.
Game 3: The third game followed the same pattern as the second. CLG took an early lead and never looked back. The best performance of the game again came from Huhi, who went 6/0/8 as Cassiopeia.
(7-5) Team Liquid 2-1 Echo Fox (1-11)
Game 1: The first game saw TL explode out the gates, and they carried that momentum throughout the game. EF, however, was making mistakes and getting caught out left and right. The best performance of the game came from TL jungler Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett, who went 8/0/7 as Rek’Sai.
Game 2: In the second game, EF took the win thanks to extremely well played and team-focused play. EF did not give TL much room to work with, and without Dardoch’s jungle pressure, TL failed. The best performance of the match came from EF mid laner Henrik “Froggen” Hansen, who went 3/0/4 as Anivia.
Game 3: The third game was back-and-forth until TL was able to take down Baron at the 24 minute mark. After that, TL took a gold lead that EF could not fight and eventually, TL won the game and the series. The best performance of the match came from TL mid laner Kim “Fenix” Jae-hoon, who went 8/0/4 as Viktor.
