Korean League of Legends mid laner Noh “Ninja” Geon-woo has officially joined Team Dragon Knights.
Ninja has played on loan from Team WE with the Dragon Knights since May 18, but earlier today the Chinese organization terminated his contract.
The Dragon Knights first faced a mid lane problem after former starting mid laner Seo “Kyle” Ji-sun left the team due to personal conflicts. The team temporarily brought in substitute Alexey “Alex Ich” Ichetovkin, who helped it qualify for the League Championship Series.
Looking for a permanent replacement, the team eventually made a deal with Team WE to borrow Ninja.
Shortly thereafter, he arrived in the United States and begin scrimmaging with the team. But due to technical problems in the U.S. Department of State that brought down the department’s visa services, his and AD carry Kim “Emperor” Jin-hyun’s visa were delayed.
The two were unable to play with the team until week five. And thanks to an abysmal record from the previous weeks (during which it was forced to use a number of substitutes), the team was on course for auto-relegation. With their backs against the wall, the team showed improvement with the full roster, scoring victories against Cloud9, Gravity, and Team Dignitas in the final four weeks of competition. But that wasn’t enough, and the Dragon Knights were auto-relegated.
As the Dragon Knights prepare for the 2016 season, it’s unclear how else the roster might change. But one thing is certain: Ninja will be playing in the midlane.
