Today marked the second day of action in Week Eight of the North American League Championship Series (NA LCS).
From Counter Logic Gaming coming back in game three on Team Liquid, to Phoenix1 upsetting Team SoloMid, here is how Week Eight went down:
(8-7) Counter Logic Gaming 2-1 Team Liquid (8-7)
Game 1: The first match was dominated by TL, with the kills 21-9 in their favor. There were fights breaking out as soon as two minutes, but since TL performed better in those fights, they were able to run away with a victory. The best performance of the game came from Samson “Lourlo” Jackson, who went 9/0/3 on Irelia.
Game 2: The second game was all about CLG mid laner Choi “Huhi” Jae-hyun (7/0/6 as Cassiopeia). He roamed the map well and contributed to almost every CLG kill, shown by his 87% kill participation.
Game 3: The third game was a true deciding match due to how intense it was. TL, looking to end the game and win the series, took down Baron and two CLG members at 38 minutes. After the two members came back, CLG did not back down and forced a teamfight, then aced TL. While TL was aced, CLG took down four towers and inhibitors and TL’s nexus. The exciting comeback was led by CLG ADC Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes, who had four kills in the final fight and went 4/2/3 as Sivir.
(9-6) Cloud9 2-0 Team EnVyUs (7-8)
Game 1: The first match was going very strongly in EnVyUs’s favor – up by as much as 6k gold at 28 minutes – due to strong objective control early on. However, C9 answered back by taking two Barons, the lead and then the EnVyUs nexus. The best performance of the match came from C9 top laner Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong, who went 8/1/6 as Irelia.
Game 2: C9 rode their momentum from the first game and dominated EnVyUs in the second matchup. The team kills were 12-1 in favor of C9. Also, EnVyUs was only able to take down two towers and a Dragon, whereas C9 took down nine towers, three Dragons and a Baron. The best performance of the match came from C9 support Andy “Smoothie” Ta, who went 0/0/10 as Bard.
(4-11) Phoenix1 2-1 Team SoloMid (14-1)
Game 1: The first game was a clinic held by TSM. Despite not killing much, TSM picked P1 apart. The 25 minute win was routine for TSM and it seemed like P1 had no chance of taking down the NA giant. The best performance of the match came from TSM mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg, who went 2/0/4 as Malzahar.
Game 2: The second game was one of the most shocking games in recent NA LoL history, thanks to P1 jungler Rami “Inori” Charagh’s Rengar (12/2/7). After starting off with an early lead, Inori did not look back and made this game look like a solo queue jungle carry. TSM was too far behind to take on the Rengar and eventually lost the game to a backdoor.
Game 3: The third game saw Inori (6/0/10 as Rek’Sai) continue to go off. TSM respected Inori’s Rengar and banned him, but that did not stop P1 from taking an early lead due to TSM flopping. After better team-fighting and objective control, P1 was able to run away with the win and the upset.
(15-1) Immortals 2-0 Apex (6-10)
Game 1: The first game was a back-and-forth battle. The lead changed nine times, but IMT ended with the win. Objectively, the game was close with APX taking down seven towers, a Dragon and a Baron, compared to IMT taking down eight towers, three Dragons and a Baron. However, IMT performing better in the late-game propelled them to the win. The best performance of the match came from IMT ADC Jason “WildTurtle” Tran, who went 10/1/9 as Jhin.
Game 2: IMT came out strong in the second match, not allowing APX to get anything but two towers and four kills. IMT simply outplayed and outsmarted APX in every situation. The best performance of the match came from IMT jungler Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin, who went 4/0/6 as Gragas.
