For Season 7, League of Legends is going to be following the trend of updating a particular class. This year, assassins are the ones to be majorly updated. For the most part, we will be skimming over and giving you the meat of the information provided. But for those looking for more in-depth looks, click here.
The two goals of the assassin update are to make assassins fit their class type better, and doing so while increasing the overall game health. This new functionality they are trying to offer has been put into practice in a few new updates of their champion pool.
The overall aim was to make Leblanc, Talon, Renger and Katarina – whom are being given the most significant updates – feel more complete. Fizz, Kha’Zix, Ekko, Shaco, Akali and Zed are being given minor updates to achieve the same purpose.
While the exact details of the changes are yet to be revealed, if the updates follows the Mage Update of Season 6, then many core items and abilities for each champion will be changed, or even removed. With this, new items are likely to be introduced into the game.
Most of the teasers for the upcoming items revolve around the usual implementation of Assassin-based items. However, one of the biggest changes is the seperation of what “stealth” is in League. Instead of falling under one term, there are two terms: Invisibility and Camoflauge. Invisibility is a short-term, fight-based stealth, allowing you to break aggro and/or re-engage; think Wukong’s Decoy (W) or Vayne’s Tumble (Q) during Final Hour (R). Champions with invisibility cannot be seen by pink wards. Camoflauge is a long-term stealth, more focused on roaming the map and not around fighting; think Evelynn’s Shadow Walk (Passive). Camoflauge can be seen by pink wards.
