Veteran League of Legends fans rejoice, your favorite players of old may head back to Summoner’s Rift at this year’s Return of the Legends.
Set to take place from Aug. 24 to 26 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Return of the Legends pits legacy retired players from various regions against one another.
Hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Return of the Legends made its initial debut in 2017. Hosted in August last year, the festival gathered many fan favorite players from season two and three, such as China’s Yu “Misaya” Jing-Xi, Europe’s Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez, and North America’s Brian “TheOddOne” Wyllie.
While tournament details for this year’s iteration have yet to be announced, last year’s event gathered four regional teams: China, North America, Europe, and Taiwan. Team China won last year’s Return of the Legends handily, not dropping a single game throughout the tournament’s two day span. With their win, Team China was awarded with 300,000 Hong Kong dollars, which converted to 38,000 USD.

It is currently unknown whether this year’s Return of the Legends event, which runs from Aug. 24 to 26, will clash with the 2018 Asian Games, set to take place from Aug. 18 to Sept. 1. Although a date range has been announced for the Asian Games, no exact date has been revealed for the League of Legends portion of the event.
Currently no players have been officially announced to be part of this year’s Return of the Legends. Dot Esports has reached out to the Hong Kong Tourism Board for more information.
