It’s officially Worlds season, and Riot has announced the entire schedule for the biggest esports event of the year. Worlds is the celebration of a whole year’s work in League of Legends esports, and this year, it promises to be bigger and better than ever.
On Sept. 9, Riot Games released the full Worlds 2024 calendar on X. The event begins with the pick’em on Sept. 18 for the Play-in stage—a prediction game that tests League fans’ esports knowledge, with prizes up for grabs for guessing correctly. Alongside the pick ’em, Riot will release the official Worlds 2024 anthem, and recent developments suggest Linkin Park might be the frontrunner to headline the opening ceremony.
Viego was also announced as the headliner for this year’s Worlds skin, coming on Sept. 25 to celebrate the launch of Patch 14.19. Plus, if you can’t get enough of Worlds 2024, there’s more to be excited about: Patch 14.19 also adds the Worlds event pass, the terrifying Fright Night skin line featuring a spooky spin on Shaco, and the Ultimate Spellbook featured mode. A new skin drop was also announced for Oct. 23 to kick off Patch 14.21.
We already know the full schedule for Worlds 2024, starting with the Play-in stage on Sept. 25, the quarterfinals on Oct. 17, the semifinals on Oct. 26, and finally, the grand finals on Nov. 2. Attending fans can also attend Riots’ fanfest, which offers fan experiences, meet-and-greets, and more, from Oct. 31 until the opening ceremony. Last year’s event saw an outdoor concert that featured many iconic LoL songs, and each fanfest is unique to its host city.
Worlds 2024 will officially kick off on Wednesday, Sept. 25, with MAD Lions KOI taking on Vikings Esports in the tournament’s opening game.
