KT Rolster claimed their second match win of the season today after a nail biting victory against telecom rivals SK Telecom T1.
After a surprising defeat to Jin Air Green Wings last weekend in the longest competitive game in history, SKT were looking to get back on track with a win over KT Rolster.
In the first game of the series, SKT’s early aggressive counter jungling backfired. KT kept tabs on SKT’s jungler Kang “Blank” Sun-gu, securing vision in SKT’s jungle and dictating the early portions of the match.
SKT started to make uncharacteristic errors as the game wore on, and KT were able to capitalize and seal the advantage in the series. It was a slow and methodical victory for the KT side—and one that set the tempo for the series moving forward.
SKT’s only win of the series was all down to star mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok in the second game. Faker’s impressive Azir plays constantly caught out KT time and time again, allowing SKT the chances they needed to create an early game lead that KT never caught up to.
SKT looked likely to win the third game as well after a series of major errors from KT gifted SKT a large lead. SKT, however, allowed their greed to get the best of them as they forced themselves forward into unfavorable team fights, giving KT the kills and the team fight victories they needed to turn the game around.
Unfortunately for SKT, KT were just the better side on the day. KT mid laner Heo “PawN” Won-seok was given ample room to attack SKT during team fights in the third and final game, making it easy for his Azir soldiers to shred through the SKT tanks and chase the retreating backline.
SKT face off against KINGZONE DragonX next on Friday morning, where former SKT jungler Han “Peanut” Wang-ho will be waiting to enact revenge on his former teammates. As for KT, their next match is against an impressive bbq Olivers side that features EU LCS veteran jungler Kim “Trick” Gang-yun and superstar support player Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun.
