Cloud9’s ADC Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi qualified for his sixth League of Legends World Championship last night after beating TSM in the regional finals.
The qualification marked Sneaky’s sixth consecutive Worlds appearance, with the first dating back to season three. The achievement will trump the five consecutive appearances at Worlds made by TSM legend Marcus “Dyrus” Hill and Fnatic’s former support Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim.
Three other players are also set to appear in their sixth World Championship, albeit qualifying on different teams and at different times throughout their careers. These players include EDG’s Ming “Clearlove” Kai, Team Liquid’s Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, and Fnatic’s Paul “sOAZ” Boyer.
TSM’s loss to Cloud9 in yesterday’s regional finals also means that TSM will be missing Worlds for the first time in the organization’s history. TSM attended the first World Championship in 2011 and had qualified for every event until now.
On the other hand, teams such as NA’s 100 Thieves, EU’s Team Vitality, and a host of other squads will be taking part in their first Worlds ever.
The 2018 World Championship is set to kick off on Oct. 1 in South Korea with the Play-In Stage which will conclude on Oct. 7. Groups will then kick off on Oct. 10 with the finals being held on Nov. 3.
