Which LoL champion says, ‘Hmm. What color should I wear today? Black? Or charcoal?’

This one's a bit dark.

Another day, another round of LoLdle—the Wordle-inspired minigame that sees you pick out a League of Legends champion based on a single voice line from the game.

Today’s one was a little tricky as it’s not one you will commonly hear unless you spam out a variety of different League ADCs in the mid-lane. Here’s today’s clue and answer for the Aug. 17 LoLdle quote.

Who says, “Hmm. What color should I wear today? Black? Or charcoal?” in LoL?

The LoLdle quote on Aug. 17 is, “Hmm. What color should I wear today? Black? Or charcoal?” The League champion who says this line is Vex.

So this one wasn’t too hard, thanks in part to Vex’s…darker…demeanor and personality. We know Vex is a little gloomy and we can totally picture her only wearing darker colors—she’s already wearing a gray hoodie anyway, so the mention of black or charcoal is a bit of a giveaway.

You’ll hear this voice line whenever Vex makes her first move in a game of League, and given there are a few different options, it may be some time between matches that you’ll hear this voice line. She’s not the most popular champion right now, posting just under a five percent pick rate according to stats site U.GG, so again it’s not a voice line you might have heard in-game that often.

The Gloomist wasn’t my first pick, actually, as I leaned toward a few other League champions that felt like they could say something like this. Aphelios, Elise, and Morgana all came to mind but none of them satisfied the voice line. In retrospect it makes sense, I don’t think any of them really care about what color they wear while roaming the Rift.
