Here is a recap of what happened:

After the hype of the NA vs. EU opening game, the highly favoured ROX Tigers took on ANX.
Everyone watching thought that ROX would stomp ANX with no chance of resistance. ROX has been dominating the LCK and looks in tip-top shape, so why would a wildcard team from an underdeveloped scene be able to put up a fight? That’s what everyone thought at least.

Game One

Starting at champion select, it looked like ANX was doomed. Almost every lane was a losing matchup. However, once everyone stepped on the rift, ANX shut everyone up.

The first five minutes showed ANX ahead of ROX with a two-to-one score. At seven minutes, they were ahead four-to-two. Unfortunately, ROX took the training wheels off and started to dismantle ANX.

Despite the very strong and surprising showing from ANX in the early game, ROX took off due to superior team composition and overall gameplay. Around minute 12, ROX had complete control of the game.

Minute 22 had ROX inside ANX’s base with control of the entire map. What is surprising to see is ANX is still trading kills every fight, despite being behind six towers and 11k gold. Their luck didn’t last very long though.

An ace in favor of ROX inside ANX’s jungle allowed ROX to get dragon and apply their lead to the turtling ANX’s base.

The game ended with ROX getting a quadra kill they destroyed ANX’s base to secure the win.
