Bans have been handed down to 16 players—40 percent of the total player base of the eight-team league.

The bans are for offenses ranging from “negative behavior” to boosting, with bans lasting from two weeks to the entire 2017 competitive season.

SIN Academy are the team worst hit, with three of their players—Ryan “Swathe” Gibbons, Ari “Shok” Greene-Young, and Daniel “Decoy” Ealam—banned for the entirety of the first split of 2017.

Two players from Legacy Genesis have also received bans for the first split, while Team Regicide have one player banned for the split and one for the entirety of the 2017 season.

Team Regicide will also be without two other players for the next two weeks, leaving just one of their original roster to play for the next fortnight.

In total, seven players have been banned for the first split of 2017 with three banned for the full year.

According to Riot’s statement, it is working with the teams affected to ensure they will be able to compete while the players serve their bans. Week two of the Oceanic Challenger Series is still scheduled to take place tomorrow, with all eight teams having scheduled matches to play.
