Marvel Snap’s “Spider-Versus” season was themed on the release of the acclaimed film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Of course, as the season’s theme suggests, cards and card variants released revolved around the characters related to Spider-Man, whether it be Peter Parker or Miles Morales. One of those is Silk, who is one of the best Spider-Women in the Marvel Universe.

As the famous Spider-Man intro in the Spider-Verse films says, Silk (or Cindy Moon) was bitten by a radioactive spider, granting her superpowers in the process. In Marvel Snap, she has an effect that may turn games upside down, especially when she is used in Move decks.

Marvel Snap’s Silk abilities, explained

Silk is a two-cost, five-Power card with the ability that reads “After ANY card is played here, this moves to another location.” This may seem a downside for her cheap yet powerful stat line, but in reality, if used correctly, Silk can be a game-changer—particularly in the late game where the opponent may have a hard time reading your play.

Silk is a series five card, meaning she will cost 6,000 tokens once she is available in the game. It is still yet to be confirmed when she will be dropping to series four, however.

Strategy and best combos for Silk decks in Marvel Snap

Technically speaking, Silk can synergize with any card since she has a general effect of moving around locations whenever a card is played on the location where she is currently placed. She may even change the flow of the game in an instant once you play even a single card on another location. Silk makes decks more unpredictable, but no other deck can benefit more from her effect than the Move deck.

Move deck staples like Kraven and Miles Morales can greatly take advantage of Silk’s effect. The former gains plus-two Power every time a card moves on the location where it is placed. The latter, on the other hand, becomes a one-cost, five-Power card when a unit moves either from your side or the opponent’s (from the original four-cost, five-Power stat line).

The best Silk decks in Marvel Snap

Standard Move

This Move deck that focuses on gaining as much Power as possible on all locations got a major upgrade with Silk’s arrival to Marvel Snap. Her plus-five Power can be big, especially for a deck archetype that relies on moving cards across locations to produce massive Power numbers from some of the cards.

The cards that can give you high Power levels include Kraven, Dagger, and Vulture. Kraven stacks plus-two Power whenever you play a card on the location where it is placed. You can spam Silk’s ability to boost Kraven’s Power in the process. Dagger and Vulture, on the other hand, both increase their Power every time you move them to another location.

As for the cards that can help you move cards across all locations, you can add the likes of Iron Fist, Ghost-Spider, Cloak, Doctor Strange, and Heimdall. These cards have their proper timing of playing to move your units across all the locations. Multiple Man, on the other hand, leaves a copy of himself in the location where he is originally placed when he gets moved.

Spider-Man 2099 is a great addition thanks to his ability to destroy a random enemy card when gets moved for the first time to a location.

Win condition cards for Silk Aggro Move

There is no card that can define the main winning condition of this deck. However, the cards that can be considered the most vital aside from Silk to help you win games are:

  • Human Torch
  • Kraven
  • Dagger
  • Vulture
  • Heimdall

Human Torch, Kraven, Dagger, and Vulture are your Power sources in this deck. All of these cards stack Power every time a movement of a card is done on your locations. So, it is important to know where you should place these cards, especially if you will do a Heimdall play in the final turn.

Of course, Heimdall is the usual final turn card for Move decks. But with Silk, the movement in the late game may be tough for your opponent to read.

Aggro Toolbox Move

Another deck where Silk shines is in a slower Move deck, but with a bit of variation compared to the first deck. Unlike the Standard Move deck that heavily relies on the Move mechanic to work, this Aggro Toolbox Move deck has more control capabilities, as well as potential massive Power sources which can work in the late game if you can move cards around locations as much as possible.

The main Power sources for this deck are Angela and Kraven, since both of them can stack Power by playing and moving cards on your locations. Kitty Pryde is there to stack Power on Angela as much as possible, as well as adding Power to herself every time she is bounced.

Aside from Silk, your move enablers are Jeff the Baby Landshark, Spider-Man, and Vision. Miles Morales, on the other hand, is a four-cost, five-Power card that becomes a one-cost unit if a unit is moved on the last turn. Shang-Chi can be added for destroying your opponent’s nine-Power or higher units on the location where he is played.

Captain Marvel is beneficial for this deck since she moves to a location that can win you the game (if possible). Cap off the deck with Legion, who can turn all locations to the location where he is placed, and Magneto, who is a six-cost, 12-Power unit that can move three or four-cost cards to the location where you play him.

Win condition cards for this deck

The win condition cards for this deck are:

  • Angela
  • Kraven
  • Shang-Chi
  • Captain Marvel
  • Legion
  • Magneto

Stack Power on Angela and Kraven as much as possible. It’s best to make them nine Power or more in the final turn, provided that the opponent is in priority to prevent Shang-Chi from destroying them. As for Shang-Chi, his destruction capability can be converted into offense for your side of the location.

Captain Marvel is literally a game-winner, so playing her on turn five is ideal. Legion is there to take advantage of a location that may already give you the win (if possible). Magneto’s massive Power and moving prowess, on the other hand, can be a game-changer if used correctly. So, it is best to calculate the odds first of what units you can move with his effect before playing him.

Silk deck’s current state in the meta

Silk’s ability can be very tricky. It can either make or break your game, depending on the setup that you have created, as well as what your opponent will play. The Standard Move deck with Silk is a decent pick for the meta but may be a bit predictable since the movement (especially with Heimdall) can lean toward one direction.

The Aggro Toolbox Move deck, on the other hand, is making waves as one of the top and most popular decks in the meta. The Power stack that can be created with Angela and Kraven because of the multiple movements that can be done in the deck is controllable, preventing Shang-Chi from taking over and destroying those instead. Legion’s control prowess to manipulate the locations in an instant also helps the deck find the surprise factor which can completely disrupt the opponent’s setups.
