In Marvel Snap, Control decks are packed with flavor and give you a ton of freedom when it comes to the strategies you can use to achieve victory. Marvel Snap centers around players creating as much Power as possible at two or more locations, but Control decks utilize disrupting strategies that are interesting and satisfying to play with.
The best Control strategies in Marvel Snap involve cards that can remove the abilities of other units, destroy opponent’s cards, lock down locations, add unnecessary units to your opponent’s locations, manipulate cards’ Power, and more. You can use all of these tools offensively to win games in a spectacularly creative fashion.
So, here are the best Control decks in Marvel Snap.
Best control decks in Marvel Snap
Lockdown Control
The Lockdown Control strategy focuses on shutting down locations to prevent your opponent from building their setups.
Storm is the main catalyst of the lockdown mechanic thanks to her ability to flood a location, as she makes the next turn the last turn players can play cards there. Nebula goes hand-in-hand with Storm, as she stacks Power when your opponent doesn’t play a card at her location.
Additionally, Jeff the Baby Land Shark and Vision can be handy to create surprise plays thanks to their Move abilities. This deck also runs Doctor Doom, which can create two five-Power Doombots at each other location, and it doesn’t count as playing them, so the Doombots can circumvent lockdown cards like Storm.
Medusa, Ms. Marvel, Jessica Jones, and Iron Lad are your Power sources, while Shang-Chi and Alioth are helpful to destroy your opponent’s cards in the mid-to-late-game. Lastly, you can also include Zabu to reduce the Cost of your four-Cost cards by one, which is widely helpful across the board.
Junk Control
Another effective control strategy in the current meta is the Junk engine. Here, your main goal is to add unnecessary cards to your opponent’s side of locations, which is a great offensive strategy. If you play your cards right, your opponent will struggle to play anything.
Annihilus can transfer or destroy your cards with negative Power, like The Hood and Sentry’s created Void card. Korg, Rock Slide, and Black Widow, on the other hand, all add unnecessary cards to your opponent’s hand or deck. They also boost Darkhawk in the process because of his ability to gain plus two Power for each card in your opponent’s deck.
Sera Control 2.0
The well-established Sera Control deck has dominated the Marvel Snap meta for a long time already. It had a few setbacks, however, due to the popularity of decks that produce massive Power like Thanos Lockjaw and Ramp strategies. But this iteration of the Sera Control strategy is currently a force to be reckoned with.
It includes new supports like Mobius M. Mobius and Hope Summers to ensure you’ll always be able to play multiple cards on turn six. Maximus and Gladiator are this deck’s new massive Power sources, while you can use Shadow King to reset opponent’s cards to their base power, nullifying opposing strategies that rely on buffing cards.
Old school Sera Control cast members like Lizard and Enchantress are still present in the deck, as they’re still very effective. Lastly, you can also run Armor for more protection, as well as to disrupt Destroy decks.
