Minecraft received one of its biggest updates ever when The Wild Update introduced the terrifying Deep Dark biome and the terrifying Warden boss in June 2022. But yet another big update is already here to expand the game once again. The next update is called Trails & Tails and officially has a release date for players to look forward to.
News that yet another big update was in the works was shared by Mojang during the Minecraft Live 2022 presentation that aired on Oct. 15, 2022. At this point, the developers behind Minecraft shared that the next big update for the sandbox game was already well underway but wouldn’t share the official name of the update just yet as they still had plans to develop the update much further.

Although the name of the update and some of its core features were kept secret after the initial announcement, Mojang did tease some aspects that players have eagerly been waiting to play with since. One of the biggest ones was the Sniffer, which won the mob vote during the 2022 Minecraft Live event.
Outside of the Sniffer, the rest of the features Mojang initially teased right after announcing that an update was in the works included camels, a new interactable block called chiseled bookshelves, rafts, hanging signs, and a bamboo wood set. And while these features were certainly exciting, many of the best additions arriving in the update, such as the cherry blossom biome and archaeology, weren’t revealed until months afterward.
Now, the Trails & Tails update is shaping up to be a massive expansion to the Minecraft world packed with a ton of content for players to explore. If you want to make sure you get to experience all this update has to offer as soon as possible, then you’ll want to know when the update launches.
Minecraft Trails & Tales release date
Players can set off on a new Minecraft journey when the Trails & Tales update officially launches on June 7. Mojang shared this announcement on May 26 and confirmed all players across all platforms will get the update on this day.
If June 7 seems too far away, players can still jump into snapshot and beta versions of the update to at least test out the upcoming features. Most of the incoming features are already available for players to interact with, so if you want to ride a camel or track down a cherry blossom biome as soon as possible, you can do so by testing a preview version of the update.
The release is just about two weeks away, so players don’t have to wait too long before they will be able to customize their own armor, uncover the past with archaeology, raise Sniffers, and see all the Trails & Tails update has to offer. A release time hasn’t been shared yet, but based on my experience with past Minecraft updates, I believe players can expect to see it officially launch in the morning on June 7.
