MTG MagicFest in Niagara Falls somehow fell under the radar, but that didn’t stop 12-year-old Milan Bhayana from sweeping the field Friday in the Legacy Mythic Championship Qualifiers.
MagicFest Niagara Falls was Bhayana’s second Legacy tournament. But judging by his caliber of play, he made it look like he’s a seasoned pro.
It’s not confirmed which deck Bhayana played, however, UW Stoneforge is one of the possibilities. Legacy in Magic: The Gathering is one of the best formats, and it’s challenging, too. Players are allowed to build decks using cards from every set in MTG, with up to four copies of one card.
UW (Blue/White) Stoneforge is not a beginner deck, requiring a good amount of meta knowledge. We don’t have an exact deck list copy of Bhayana’s UW Stoneforge, but the deck typically consists of the following creatures and spells.
Creatures:
- Snapcaster Mage
- Stoneforge Mystic
- True-Name Nemesis
- Vendilion Clique
Spells:
- Jace, the Mind Sculptor
- Council’s Judgment
- Ponder
- Brainstorm
- Spell Pierce
- Force of Will
- Spell Snare
- Swords to Plowshares
- Batterskull
- Umezawa’s Jitte
Magic: The Gathering MagicFest in Niagara Falls will continue through Sunday, April 21. The featured event on Saturday and Sunday is the Grand Prix Legacy tournament.
Fblthp, a homunculus on Ravnica, was seen this morning for tournament play, but we’re not too sure how he’ll do against players like Bhayana.
This week’s MagicFest MCQ consists of Legacy at Niagara Falls and Modern in Yokohama, building up for the second Mythic Championship in London from April 26 to 28.
