Wizards of the Coast drops multiple Magic: The Gathering events each month for players on MTG Arena, from free-to-play to competitive organized play tournaments.
The month of July features the release of Historic Anthology Seven and Explorer Anthology Three. Both expansions drop into MTG Arena on July 18. There are 50 Magic cards in the Historic Anthology and 25 in the Explorer Anthology.
Competitive Magic contains a change to the August Qualifier Weekend format, now featuring the Explorer format following the launch of Explorer Anthology Three on MTG Arena. Limited Magic players can tap into LTR Quick Draft events during the month of July, providing unlimited time to draft a card. And Commander players can jump into a Lord of the Rings Brawl event from July 7 to 14.

Every month, WotC offers players a variety of events to compete in. Most require an entry fee that players can use gold or gems to pay, while others are free-to-play. In addition to the rotating monthly events, monthly organized play tournaments can also qualify players for the Pro Tour or put cash in their wallets through the Arena Open tournament.
Special MTG Arena events in July
Brawl takes center stage during the month of July on MTG Arena through The Two Towers event from July 7 to 14. Rewards for the event are Core Set 2021 Showcasic basic lands.
Rotating and weekly MTG Arena events
In addition to the specialty events showcased every month on MTG Arena, there are rotating regular events that take place as well. These include Midweek Magic events that start on Tuesdays and end on Thursdays, along with events like Limited Draft and Sealed.

Competitive organized play MTG Arena events
Competitive players can compete in Qualifier Play-Ins to advance to Qualifier Weekend tournaments, where top finishers can earn a direct invite to an Arena Championship and the Pro Tour. There is also a monthly Arena Open event, offering top finishers up to $2,000 and MTG Arena rewards.

Players each month can rank up the MTG Arena ladder, earning rewards. The July MTG Arena season runs from June 30 to July 31. Booster pack rewards for the month of June were changed, according to WotC, from MOM booster packs to LTR booster packs.
- Bronze Reward: One LTR booster pack
- Silver Reward: One LTR booster pack and 500 gold
- Gold Reward: Two LTR booster packs, 1,000 gold, and a Shadow Summoning card style style
- Platinum Reward: Three LTR booster packs, 1,000 gold, a Shadow Summoning card style, and a Press the Enemy card style
- Diamond Reward: Four LTR booster packs, 1,000 gold, a Shadow Summoning card style, and a Press the Enemy card style
- Mythic Reward: Five LTR booster packs, 1,000 gold, a Shadow Summoning card style, and a Press the Enemy card style
