Epic Games regularly updates Fortnite to keep the game up to the current standards and to keep it fresh for both returning and regular players. There are, in fact, plenty of ways Epic keeps the game fresh, including item vaulting and unvaulting, island revamps, and immersive quests.
The most commonly used practice is retiring weapons and items to a vault to slowly shift the ongoing meta. Since Epic vaults and unvaults weapons on a patch-basis, weapons, more often than not, make a return in the later patches—like the Guided Missile Launcher, which was vaulted, tweaked, and brought back.
Every few weeks, we see the old favorite weapons or say goodbye to the incredibly powerful new ones making each vault comeback or goodbye more exciting every time we see a new change going our way.
