The best champions in Wild Rift to dominate your lane

Keeping up with Wild Rift's meta is a must if you're aiming high.

Considering how fast mobile gaming grew over the past decade, it’s surprising that it took this long for League of Legends, the most popular MOBA title in the world, to make its entrance into the mobile scene. It’s better to be late than to never arrive at all, though, and Riot Games is finally rolling out the mobile version of League, Wild Rift.

While the game looks exactly like its PC version on mobile, Wild Rift wasn’t ported to the platform. The developer re-coded the whole game from scratch and updated most of the models in the process to make the game look as good as possible.

Most old-school gamers may believe that the mobile gaming community is less competitive in terms of gameplay, but that is certainly not the case with Wild Rift. Mobile games are much more accessible than their PC counterparts, increasing the total player counts to extensive levels. Not only is Wild Rift a competitive game by nature, but the fact it’s supported by Riot’s experience with competitions will also be the fuel of millions of players aiming to achieve higher ranks.

Knowing the game’s ins and outs, including the meta, will be crucial if you want to make your way to the top. No matter how good you are at Wild Rift, you’ll usually be one step behind if you don’t play the most overpowered champions of the current meta.

The following champions have been dominating their lanes over the past few months, but it can take only a couple of nerfs or a new champion to put an end to their reign. Use them as much as you can, but don’t be afraid of changing your methods when a new patch rolls out.

Here’re the best champions in Wild Rift for each lane.

Baron lane

More often than not, the Baron or the top lane will be the most isolated corner of the map. Picking champions with self-sustaining abilities is the key to surviving possible ganks from the enemy jungler.

Enchanting your boots with Teleportation will allow you to react to any situation around the map, and if nothing goes according to plan, you can always start split-pushing to divide the enemy’s attention.

Alongside being tanky, the following champions are also powerful enough to solo-kill most of the champion pool in Wild Rift.

Fiora

The Baron lane is essentially a duel. Fiora is potentially the best duelist in Wild Rift, and her abilities allow her to pressure any opponent while also giving her enough room to outplay any gank attempts.

What makes Fiora one of the best Baron lane champions is her ability to dictate the pace of the lane. More often than not, your opponents will find themselves reacting to your moves instead of trying to outplay you, but you’ll be ready for that as well. Riposte allows Fiora to turn around situations that aren’t in her favor, and, when used correctly, it can allow your teammates to react.

Garen

Garen’s kit is filled with utility spells, making him a must-have in any team composition. He’s packed with a passive health regeneration spell, and one of his damaging abilities also doubles as a cleanse, which lets him purge off all the debuffs affecting him.

His true damage-dealing ultimate means Garen isn’t the one to miss any kills, and it’s quite hard to play against him since his first ability, Decisive Strike, silences his enemies upon a hit.

Jungle

Junglers potentially have the most impact on the outcome of a match. Their ability to help any lane in trouble and make the enemy laners’ lives a living nightmare is more than enough to seal a game.

When uncontested, junglers have the potential to take over a game simply by farming. Their ability to take down objectives like dragons by themselves makes them a valuable asset to their team even if they fall behind in terms of farming.

Lee Sin

Most players learn to hold their own in their lanes. When both teams are equally matched in terms of skill, the game’s fate often depends on junglers, and whoever is the most creative on the map destroys the Nexus.

Lee Sin’s abilities give enough room for players to improvise ganks and catch enemies off guard. Lee Sin also doesn’t struggle when it comes to clearing the jungle, an important trait for the junglers so they can always stay ahead of their counterpart.

Kha’Zix

Playing Lee Sin can be more rewarding compared to picking Kha’Zix, but only when players know how they can use Lee Sin to his full potential. Kha’Zix shares a similar style with Lee Sin in the early game, but his focus shifts toward the late game since he adopts a different role for his team.

Kha’Zix spell kit is relatively easier to pick up compared to Lee Sin. Kha’Zix requires a bit more attention to positioning since players will need to be as precise as possible around the later stages of the game. Your main objective will be to clear out fragile champions before the fights even kick off to leave the team at a disadvantage.

Mid Lane

Mid laners are the cornerstones of a good lineup. They’re known to bring the damage to teamfights, and most excel at solo-killing fragile champions. Mid lane champions play in the most dangerous lane in Wild Rift since it has the most entry points. This makes junglers a real threat for mid champions, meaning they need to play with all of their senses not to give away any kills.

Katarina

Mid lane champions often look forward to snowballing as soon as possible so they can rotate into other lanes and help out their teammates.

Katarina farms fast and can also pressure her lane opponents out of their comfort zones. Katarina’s kit also features mobility tools, meaning she won’t be that easy to kill. This allows her to play around jungle ganks and grants her flexibility while trying to gank other lanes. In teamfights, you’ll want to deflect your enemies’ attention away from you so you can use your ultimate at the right time to deal massive amounts of damage.

Ziggs

Bursting down champions is a common characteristic for mid laners. In addition to bombing down opponents, Ziggs also scales at pushing.

A passive ability that empowers Ziggs’ basic attacks accompanies his set of explosive spells that lets him push out any lane. If you notice your enemy going back to base, you can easily take down a tower to half HP and even contribute to teamfights with your massively-ranged ultimate.

Dragon lane

While dragon lane may look like the simplest lane, it features some completely different chemistry. In our list, four champions collide in this lane, with two playing the role of a support.

Supports try their hardest to keep their AD carries safe, while AD carries will focus on securing the most amount of farm possible.

AD Carry

Jinx

Auto attacking is a core part of the AD carry role, and no champion auto-attacks better than Jinx.

Her skills let her scale in attack speed, and a global ultimate that can secure kills rounds out her kit. She has the necessary tools to close any gap between her and an opponent and also protect herself against incoming ganks with her Flame Chompers.

Kai’Sa

Most AD carry champions in the game will require players to have perfect positioning so they can continue dealing damage without getting picked off. Kai’Sa is one of the few that comes with a mobility tool, and she can also rotate around a fight like no other champion in the game.

Kai’Sa’s abilities allow her to deal huge amounts of damage to singled-out enemies, and she also has the tools to close the distance. You can use them to start a fight or to pick off the remaining enemies who are trying to escape.

Supports

No AD carry would be able to survive without a capable support champion by their side. Supports make sure AD carries stay out of trouble, and they focus on creating opportunities that could result in takedowns.

Alistar

AD carries who can’t create chances by themselves often require a champion who can initiate fights alongside them.

Not only does Alistar bring sustainability to the lane by providing a passive heal, but he can also start fights in a blink of an eye. The Headbutt into Pulverize combo is a classic, and catching the enemy AD carry with it can instantly win your team a fight. If your AD carry is doing fine in the lane, you can also take the opportunity to gank the mid lane with Alistar Make sure not to mess around, though, since your enemies can take the opportunity to pile on your AD carry if they see you spending too much time around other parts of the map.

Nami

Hooking is one of the more challenging mechanics in Wild Rift. If you can’t seem to land a hook with champions like Blitzcrank, you don’t have to worry, because they aren’t the only ones dominating the leaderboards.

Nami is possibly the most aggressive enchanting support in the game. While Aqua Prison can be hard to hit sometimes, setting it up with Tidecaller’s blessing should make it easier to pull off. Ebb and Flow will be essential for stabilizing your lanes with heals, but it can also be used as a nuke to finish off escaping enemies.

Nami’s true potential unlocks at level six, however, since ganking her lane gets nearly impossible. Tidal Wave is a great tool to dismiss any incoming threats, and it can be used to start engagements when needed.
