The big three eastern LoL leagues – LCK, LMS and LPL – have all chosen to take the next couple of weeks off to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
This year’s Lunar New Year will occur on Jan. 28. The length of the Lunar New Year festivities varies for the different regions. While Korea will only celebrate the new year for around three days, China and Taiwan typically celebrate the holiday for over two weeks.
Korea’s LCK and Taiwan’s LMS will resume play on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3 respectively, while China’s LPL won’t return until Feb. 9.
Riot Games has always celebrated the Lunar New Year along with the eastern regions, creating skins to commemorate the holiday yearly. This year though, Riot has decided to reskin Summoner’s Rift in a Lunar New Year theme. This year’s skins are on the PBE, but do not have a release date currently.
