During the glory days of Overwatch, the team worked around the clock to make the best skins imaginable. Now that development has shifted to Overwatch 2, new skins aren’t released as frequently as they used to be. While this might seem like a bummer, it gives us enough of a breather to list the best skins for the first game’s heroes.
As the poster girl for Overwatch, Tracer has been blessed with countless skins over the course of the last five years, including over a dozen legendaries. The speedy Brit has some of the most interesting skins in the game, ranging from a ghostly will-o’-the-wisp to an armor-clad cadet. Graffiti
Graffiti might not be as fancy as some of Tracer’s later skins, but it’s a very unique design. Introduced during Overwatch‘s Anniversary events, it recently received a paint-splattered recolor called Tagged. We still think Graffiti is the superior version thanks to its uniform color scheme, detailed face mask, and fun reimagining of her pistols as airbrushes. Each pistol says “Tracemaker” while the attached cans read “Winston,” a nod to her friendship with the intelligent gorilla.
Slipstream
Slipstream is an extremely stylish nod to Tracer’s lore. In the days before the events of the game, Lexa Oxton (call sign “Tracer”) was the youngest person ever to induct herself into the Overwatch organization’s experimental flight program. This skin can only be obtained by purchasing the Origins, Legendary Edition, or Game of the Year Edition of Overwatch, but it’s well worth it thanks to the fashion-forward aviator sunglasses and sleek flight armor it gives Tracer.
Comic Book
To celebrate Overwatch‘s real-life graphic novel, which followed Tracer’s life back in London in the Omnic crisis, players could participate in a limited-time challenge to unlock the Comic Book skin. At its most basic level, this skin is a recolor, but its pastel pink aesthetic and pattern of “Zaps,” “Pows,” and “Blinks” make it one of her most attractive skins to date. Comic Book was just reissued as part of the Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event. Until then, it was one of her hardest-to-find skins.
Track and Field
Track and Field is one of Tracer’s earliest post-launch skins but still holds up as one of her very best. Made available as part of the Summer Games event, it reimagines the lighting-fast fighter as—what else?—an Olympic sprinter. Representing Great Britain with a Union Jack flag flying from her back, Tracer is the picture of speed in this fun and sporty outfit. It’s not only one of her best skins but one of the best skins to come out of any iteration of Summer Games.
Cadet Oxton
Cadet Oxton is another throwback to Tracer’s life as a young and upcoming hero. First released in 2017’s iteration of the Archives event, Cadet Oxton represents the armor Tracer wore during the very first uprising in King’s Row. Besides its lore significance, it’s a fun, streamlined skin that makes Tracer look a lot younger simply by virtue of its tiny hat, big glasses, and large collar pads. Even if you’re not fighting through the streets of a smoking King’s Row, this skin will definitely turn heads.
Cavalry
Cavalry is the result of Blizzard taking Tracer seriously when she said “the cavalry’s here.” This legendary skin was originally available during Archives events and reimagines Tracer as a Revolutionary War-era soldier with a modern twist. From her white thigh-highs that double as armor to her pointed hat to her tri-colored tunic, she’s the spitting image of the cavalry she so frequently talks about.
Jingle
It’s not difficult to think of Tracer as a jolly elf during the holidays, speeding around the world to bring kids cheer for Christmas. This skin was available during Winter Wonderlands events and gives Tracer an evergreen-like pointed dress, sleigh-shaped arm bracers, a woolen hat, and of course, the classic pointed elf shoes. The festive red bow on her collar is the metaphorical cherry on top.
