Best Pals to use in a Ranch in Palworld

After finally setting up your space and building a base in Palworld, one of the best ways to create a self-sustaining camp is to build a Ranch with a few select Pals stationed to graze within.

A Ranch is the best way to begin automating your base so you can find resources without needing to venture out and spend your precious time eliminating Pals. Instead, you can let your Pals do all the hard work while you finish up more worthwhile ventures, like discovering new locations, plundering caves, and capturing rarer Pals.

You will, however, need to assign specific Pals to your Ranch if you want to get the most out of it during your stay among the islands. Some of these Pals are simply better than others; the higher their level, the faster they’ll produce the work.

Best Pals for a Ranch in Palworld

Several different Pals can be assigned to a Ranch in Palworld. But a select few can provide rarer resources than others or give multiple kinds of resources while they graze within those wooden fences. All of the current Pals that can be placed in a Ranch are:

Vixy

Vixy is a great Pal to place in a Ranch for the early game since it can dig up important resources, including Arrows, Gold, and even Blue Pal Spheres. At the beginning of your adventure, Pal Spheres will be essential when grinding up some experience points since you get most of your XP from capturing Pals. Additionally, Vixy is easy to catch and can be found relatively close to your starting spawn point. Unfortunately, it doesn’t dig up higher-level Pal Spheres, reducing its usefulness in your Ranch over time.

Mau

Mau might be a bit harder to find than other Pals since they only spawn in caves and dungeons, but if you’re looking for a steady supply of gold for you and your teammates, they are a great way to keep a steady income. They will periodically drop 10 Gold Coins in your Ranch when assigned, making them a perfect asset as a money-making machine.

Sibelyx

Sibelyx might be a mid-to-late game Pal that you’ll only find near the snowy regions of the world near the top of the map, but its usefulness on your Ranch will be much appreciated once you find and capture one. When assigned to the Ranch, this Pal will generate High Quality Cloth, which is used to create specific types of armor, the Giga Glider, and the Large Pal Bed. Instead of needing 10 Cloth, you can wait for Sibelyx to drop it for you and skip the entire process of refining as well.

Beegarde

To breed different Pals, you’ll need a steady supply of Cake for the Breeding Farm. As a result, you’ll have to collect four resources to bake this sweet dessert, including Eggs, Milk, Red Berries, and Honey. Chikipi, Mozzarina, and Caprity are relatively easy to find and capture in Palworld, but Beegarde is a lot rarer to spot. While Honey can be beaten out of Pals other than Beegarde, these worker bees are the only method to farm the resource. Having one work your Ranch is important for consistent breeding.

Best Pal for Wool in Palworld

Melpaca

Of the three Pals capable of producing Wool in Palworld, the Melpaca is the best option. Melpaca, alongside Cremis and Lamball, drops Wool when it ranches with no other significant upsides. This might seem underwhelming on the surface, but Melpaca has two other benefits over its companions—its lack of other work suitability and the utility of its Partner Skill.

Cremis is probably the best Pal of the trio in terms of general gameplay but suffers from having a level one Gathering suitability. This’ll distract the cute little thing and prevent them from constantly producing Wool for you. Lamball is even worse off, getting distracted by anything dropped on the floor due to its level one Transporting stat. While you can lock them in by lifting and throwing them, server shut-downs or re-assigning your base can cause their AI to switch back to default.

Melpaca can never get distracted by anything other than ranching and taking breaks. And it can be mounted for combat, which can save you in a pinch. Keeping a Melpaca at a slightly higher level through farming XP can be good for fighting non-Dark-type Pals (at least until you get stronger options).

How many Pals can fit in a Ranch at once?

Palworld’s Ranch has a limit of five Pals. Attempting to assign additional Pals to a full Ranch will simply cause one of the previously grazing Pals to find something else to do. You can build more Ranches, though. With the default size of 15 Pals at max base level, you’ll never need more than three Ranches at a single base. That is as long as you don’t assign Pals from your party to them.

While five Pals can be assigned to a ranch at a time, things can be wonky if the Pals assigned are Alphas, like Alpha Sibelyx. Since Pals graze and drop items inside their designated Ranch, a large Pal can cause some slip-ups with AI, which cause grazing Pals to idle, find something else to do, or graze outside their pre-determined Ranch and lose out on items. Pay attention to your Farming group when assigning four or five Pals, especially if you’re utilizing Alphas or Lucky ones.
