What does Pocketpair have planned?

Palworld started as a meme but quickly exploded in popularity once it launched. Now, the developers at Pocketpair are hard at work on future updates that will improve the game in its current state while adding more content and features down the line.

Palworld is currently in early access, which just means everyone is technically playing an unfinished version of the game that is constantly being worked on behind the scenes. It acts as a way for the devs to gather data and feedback from a large playerbase while also getting early funding by selling the game ahead of a full launch later on. For Pocketpair, the current plan is to release the finalized build of Palworld in 2025, though the team has a constantly updating internal roadmap showing what new Pals, locations, and features are in the works.

Palworld content roadmap: All planned updates, DLC, and new features

What is the next Palworld update?

As of a Jan. 24 update, Pocketpair has noted the sales for Palworld “far exceeded the development team’s expectations” and that new problems have popped up. That means the next several updates for the game will likely be focused on addressing critical issues dealing with save data and world stability, along with “numerous bugs” identified by the devs and the community.

In addition, general configuration improvements for key areas of the game and reworks to how the Pal AI operates when active in your base are listed as coming “ASAP.” Everything else the team has listed is categorized as “planned future updates” and will be communicated when more details are available.

PvP, Raid Bosses, and end-game content coming to Palworld

While Palworld currently only offers online co-op and shared world servers, the developers plan to release PvP content in the future, even if they aren’t sure how it will work yet.

The current plans mention a Pal Arena will let players bring their Pals into a new area specifically designed for PvP battles. Additional post-game content like new Raid Bosses and guild member features are also mentioned, though there are currently no details.

Crossplay, online features, and more improvements coming to Palworld

The Steam and Xbox versions of Palworld seem to have plenty of differences, causing issues between the playerbases. This includes a lack of crossplay functionality, cross-save being unavailable, and a general lack of polish on the Xbox version. Pocketpair aims to remedy these lacking areas “as soon as possible” with feature improvements on Xbox and crossplay between both platforms.

In addition to that, the team has listed server transfers and migrations as an area of focus for the future, too.

Palworld will get new areas, dungeons, and technology

Palworld’s map is sizable already, with a large map with four biomes to explore. But Pocketpair has promised to add even more areas and dungeons to “make exploration even more enjoyable.” Currently, it has yet to even tease what sort of areas it has in mind. If new dungeons are coming, you can probably expect more boss battles.

More technology is on the horizon, too, which should give you more weapons and tools to craft for your adventures and base-building.

Major building system updates for Palworld

In Palworld, you can instruct your Pals to use materials to craft new items and structures to help you survive. As such, Pocketpair has promised “new buildings and items that make the survival elements more pronounced and enjoyable.” But it’s yet to share any specific examples.

Mod support is coming to Palworld

While there are several unofficial mods available for Palworld, Pocketpair intends to incorporate official mod support through the Steam Workshop down the line. It hasn’t mentioned if it plans to allow mod support for the Xbox version, too.

We’ll be sure to update this article should Pocketpair share an official roadmap and/or provide new details on new content, features, release windows, etc.

New Pals coming to Palworld

At launch, Palworld has 111 Pals you can capture and train, which jumps to 137 for a complete Paldeck if you count the subspecies you can obtain through things like Pal fusion and breeding

The developers currently plan to add more Pals to the game, but there is still no update on when that will happen or what the species are. We have seen two unreleased Pals, however, that could be added in the future.

Dragostrophe

This black and red dragon-looking Pal made an appearance in one of the trailers, but no one has managed to spot it in-game yet. There’s no official information about it, but judging by its appearance and name, it’s probably safe to assume it’s at least a Dragon type.

Boltmane

Although images of Boltmane’s in-game model are freely floating around the internet, there’s no sign of it being available for capture. Perhaps it was originally in Palworld but pulled before launch for whatever reason. The name and design do blatantly give it away as an Electric type.
