The 2024 Pokémon World Championships Fantasy Team Contest is now live for fans to cast their predictions for the international event in Hawaii. For both TCG and VGC, you must select six Pokémon you believe will have the biggest presence in the top eight at Worlds. In other words, it really helps to be familiar with all the popular ‘mons in the metagame.

On the VGC side, expect common restricted Legendary Pokémon like Calyrex and Miraidon. Other popular picks include Rapid Strike Urshifu, Incineroar, Rillaboom, and Raging Bolt. The tricky part is you’re limited to picking certain ‘mons per category, so do your best to select the strongest ones of their respective lots. It’s basically like picking the most likely Pokémon to succeed rather than building a cohesive team that works well together.

There are awesome prizes on the line for participants with the best fantasy teams based on the top eight results from Worlds. The grand prize includes a jumbo Arcanine Poké Plush—which looks like it’s larger than most dogs—along with the special Pikachu Worlds promo card, a Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Stellar Crown Booster Display Box, and a Spheal beach ball. The top 100 participants from both the TCG and VGC categories will receive all of these prizes minus the Arcanine plush.

Since Worlds is set for Aug. 16 to 18, you have until Aug. 16 at 5AM CT to select and lock in your fantasy teams. Even if you don’t win the contest, there are still plenty of freebies to claim throughout Worlds weekend, so keep an eye out.
