Pokémon Go is headed to Hawaii for the World Championships (Aug. 16 to 18), but players across the globe can join in on the celebrations with a cute Shiny debut and an exclusive Pikachu, no matter where they are.
On Aug. 1, Pokémon Go dropped details on event highlights and perks to celebrate Worlds, and there’s plenty to take advantage of. From Friday, Aug. 16 at 10am to Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 8pm local time, the special World Championships 2024 Pikachu will appear with a chance to be Shiny. This costumed Pikachu wears a blue little scuba outfit to tie in with the Hawaiian theme for Worlds. In fact, it’s the same scuba Pikachu featured on the bubbly promo art for the international event. It’ll also be sold there as an adorable plush.
Also making its Pokémon Go debut is Shiny Mienfoo. The martial arts Pokémon doesn’t exactly fit the Hawaiian theme like Pikachu, but another Shiny is a win for everyone. Both Shiny Mienfoo and World Championships 2024 Pikachu can be encountered through one-star raids and Field Research task rewards during the event.
Outside debuts, Worlds will also offer paid Timed Research, shadow raids, and new avatar items, including the 2024 Worlds Tee (White)—one of the event’s many free distributions.
At the same time, Go Battle Week: Shared Skies will be live from Friday, Aug. 16 at 12am to Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 11:59pm local time. Take advantage of all the bonuses including extra Stardust rewards and free Timed Research. Between this, Shiny Mienfoo, and the special costumed Pikachu, Go players have so much to look forward to with Worlds while also watching the top players battle for the coveted title.
