Pokémon Go’s November calendar is here, and it’s pretty disappointing

A lot of reruns, to start with.

A new month would normally mean an abundance of fresh content for Pokémon Go players to indulge in, but as far as the November outlook goes, the final few weeks of the ongoing season don’t appear to be particularly busy.

Niantic released the calendar for November today, detailing all the events and spawns players will be able to partake in over the next several weeks before the Adventures Abound season celebrating the release of Pokémon from the Paldea region into Pokémon Go, comes to an end—and there’s not a lot of interesting things coming up.

A majority of the Pokémon featured in Research Breakthroughs and headlining Raids have been accessible to players on multiple occasions within the last year, as well as only one new, non-returning event listed as coming up.

For players that achieve Research Breakthroughs, done by completing seven days’ worth of Field Research tasks, they have the chance to encounter Galarian Farfetch’d, Larvitar, Sableye, Bagon, Furfrou, and Goomy, all of which can be Shiny. Spotlight Hours, featuring one Pokémon every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm local time, will focus on Chinchou, Buneary, Dunsparce, and Lechonk for each respective week with varying bonuses.

Mega Raids will return with reruns for Mega Banette, Mega Houndoom, and Mega Kangaskhan, with a new Mega Evolution joining the lineup from Nov. 12 to 16. It is not yet clear who this addition is. Meanwhile, five-star Raids are set to rerun the Swords of Justice—Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion—as well as Douse Drive Genesect throughout the month, including Raid hours for these Pokémon every Wednesday evening.

Outside of the recently revealed Day of the Dead event, set to take place from Nov. 1 to 2, November brings about the return of the Festival of Lights and Fashion Week, likely to feature at least one new family of Pokémon each—quite possibly Tadbulb and Bellibolt for the former, and Flittle and Espathra or Squawkabilly for the latter. The only new event occurring in November is the Party Up! Event from Nov. 22-27, which seems to be encouraging players to utilize the new “Party Play” feature, though details are currently unclear.

Interestingly, Niantic is placing a massive emphasis on PokéStop Showcases through November, changing nearly every week to feature several Pokémon that pertain to ongoing events. One unidentified Pokémon will be in the spotlight of the Showcase from Nov. 11 to 12, which is during the Festival of Lights event. Niantic appears to be pushing for more players to utilize this feature, which can reward players with a plethora of items, as previous months have not possessed this amount of Showcases.

As of now, only the Day of the Dead event and November’s Community Day—featuring both Johtonian Wooper and Paldean Wooper—have been revealed in their entirety.
