Ubisoft has some trouble keeping Clash up to snuff in Rainbow Six Siege, but it looks like the developer may have finally sorted out the maligned operator.
Ubisoft will be re-enabling Clash with the Y4S4.2 patch. There’s no current release date for the Y4S4.2 patch, but it should be coming sooner rather than later as the midseason point approaches.
Clash has been a problematic operator since her inaugural season, Operation Grim Sky. Being the only defensive operator with access to a full-body riot shield, Clash posed many issues post-launch and not all of them were intended. Clash presented attackers with a massive roadblock due to the nature of her gadget but the operator has also been prone to bugs and exploits that result in unfair advantages.
The most egregious of these bugs and exploits caused players to have the ability to trick attackers into thinking their shield was still fully extended when, in actuality, the Clash player was actively using their primary weapon. Due to this visual discrepancy, Ubisoft pulled Clash from play during Operation Phantom Sight, which put a bit of a damper on the already lackluster season.
Six months after Clash was disabled with the launch of Operation Phantom Sight in June, the operator was disabled once again on Dec. 12. Since Clash’s removal from the game, Ubisoft has remained silent on her state of being until today.
Even when Clash isn’t bugged out, she tends to be one of the more publicly maligned operators. Having such game-breaking exploits isn’t a good look, especially when the operator is already ill-reputed. The Clash bug aside, Operation Shifting Tides has been one of the better-received seasons in Year Four.
