Satisfactory has a huge open world with lots of space to build and expand a factory. However, traveling can take up a lot of time due to the scale of the map and resource nodes spawning on opposite ends. Thankfully, a Parachute can solve this issue—among others.

The full release of Satisfactory brought tons of new features to the game while expanding and improving several existing ones. While we still don’t know what SAM ore is used for, the addition of Tier Nine and Alien Technology paved the way for more buildings and structures you can build for your factory, but that also means you’ll need more land to place and maintain them.

This is where Parachutes come in. They can help you traverse large distances swiftly and increase efficiency, all while being significantly less annoying. Here’s everything you need to know about the functioning of a Parachute in Satisfactory.

Satisfactory: How to deploy a Parachute

To deploy a Parachute in Satisfactory, you need to press the jump button on your keyboard. The default key bind for this is the Spacebar. You’ll also need to remember that a Parachute will only deploy if you’re descending. Pressing the jump key while ascending will result in the Parachute not opening.

Aside from traveling across the map, one of the best uses of a Parachute in Satisfactory is slowing down your descent, which will eliminate fall damage. This is also a great way to safely jump off high hills and platforms and save time instead of walking down.

Tips on using Parachutes in Satisfactory

When jumping off of high places, it’s useful to remember that you can deploy your Parachute in mid-air. This can speed up the process, as Parachutes do slow you down a lot. However, be sure to hit the spacebar to redeploy your Parachute before you fall and take damage.

Another useful tip using a Parachute to fly upwards. While you can’t open a Parachute while ascending, you can use it to gain a small amount of height and, in many cases, access hard-to-reach areas by sliding off any nearby terrain.

How to craft a Parachute in Satisfactory

You can craft a Parachute using 20 Fabric and 10 Cable in an Equipment Workshop. Before you start working on the recipe, however, you’ll need to unlock the Parachute from the Mycelia Research chain in the MAM or Molecular Analysis Machine. You’ll need an additional 10 Fabric and 50 Cable to do that.

With Satisfactory being in Early Access for five years, many players have spent time building megafactories that cover a gigantic part of the map. While Update 1.0 does add Portals for instant travel, they draw tons of power and are mostly suited for players in the final stages of the game. Parachutes aren’t that difficult to unlock and can add a splash of fun to your factory-building process.
