For non-comic readers, the Venom symbiote arc has been a fan-favorite storyline for the wall-crawler due to the level of character development it offers and the sheer power of the Symbiote. Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been featured in several trailers, but the real question is whether you can play the game as him.

Yes, you do play as Venom in Spider-Man 2. After you learn the true identity of Venom, you get to play as this version of the villain for only one mission. You get to play as Venom during the “Don’t Be Scared” mission in Act Two of Spider-Man 2. For this brief instance, you get to play as Venom rampaging and trying to escape from Oscorp Tower.

The character currently active as Venom eventually drops the Venom suit for Peter Parker to pick up later. You unlock the Venom suit as Peter Parker during a later main story mission, dubbed “Good Men.”

During this mission, Peter Park dons the symbiote in an effort to rescue Mary Jane from Kraven and his gang of hunters. This mission occurs about halfway through the events of the main storyline, so there is plenty of opportunity to utilize the powered-up Venom suit as Peter Parker.

After you unlock the Spider-Man symbiote suit, you also unlock new abilities for Peter Parker that make the web-slinger even stronger than before, but also much more aggressive towards his friends.
