There are various villains that show up in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including Mysterio, who has a whole series of side missions and an interesting suit reward for beating them: the Smoke and Mirrors suit.
The Smoke and Mirrors suit is a unique outfit for Miles based on Mysterio’s iconic design, and here’s how you can unlock it in Spider-Man 2.
What is the Smoke and Mirrors suit in Spider-Man 2?
Smoke and Mirrors is an outfit that is influenced by the look of well-known Spider-Man villain Mysterio, real name Quentin Beck, an illusionist and one of Spider-Man’s biggest rivals. Mysterio’s suit is known for the eye-popping green and purple color scheme and the iconic fishbowl-like helmet that contains an eerie fog. It is a look that, from the description, sounds kind of goofy, but it works surprisingly well for the villain.
Since he is the Spider-Man required to complete Mysterio’s missions, Miles is the only one who can don the Smoke and Mirrors suit.
It’s a bit of a shame Peter doesn’t get his own take on Mysterio’s outfit, particularly since the villain is such an important character in the Spider-Man universe. That being said, Miles is the one who has to deal with the issues that occur in Mysterio’s missions.
How to unlock the Smoke and Mirrors suit in Spider-Man 2
To unlock the Smoke and Mirrors suit, you need to complete the various Mysteriums scattered throughout the game. The Mysteriums are first introduced in a mission where Miles goes to the Coney Island amusement park to try out an attraction being showcased by the one and only Mysterio, who is now a reformed man trying to break into the entertainment industry.
Once there, Miles is thrown into what Mysterio believes is the next generation of entertainment, where the desires and dreams of an individual are brought to life via his illusions. It doesn’t work out quite as planned, though, as after a mini-game where Miles is DJing in his own illusion, everything goes haywire and the illusions become violent.
Completing this mission will unlock nine other Mysteriums throughout the city, which Miles needs to complete on his journey to unlock the Smoke and Mirrors suit.
The Mysteriums are time trials of sorts, as you will receive extra rewards for completing them within a certain amount of time. The times are ranked as either gold, silver, or bronze, so go for gold if you are trying to get the best rewards possible.
There are also different challenges Miles will need to complete to finish the trial, too, such as knocking a certain amount of enemies off the map. Some can be a little tricky, so it may take trial and error to get them all done. This will be even more so if you are aiming to finish each Mysterium trial within the gold time limit.
Once you have completed all nine trials, the Grand Finale mission will unlock, and you will have your final standoff with Mysterio on Coney Island. I won’t give away the story, but what I will say is to be wary, as not everything is as it seems. When the Grand Finale mission is complete, you will have unlocked the Smoke and Mirrors suit for Miles.
All styles for the Smoke and Mirrors suit in Spider-Man 2
There are four different color schemes available for the Smoke and Mirrors suit, including the classic Mysterio green and purple. You also get a white and black color variant and a red and black color variant, as well as another green and purple one that switches around the color scheme, with green being the main color and the purple the minor color.
While you won’t have to pay for the Smoke and Mirrors outfit, as it is unlocked by completing all the Mysterium’s across New York, you will have to pay for these style variants. To unlock them, you will need one Rare Tech Part and 30 Tech Parts.
