Stardew Valley’s latest update, Version 1.6, went live on March 19 in a surprise drop. It added countless new features, quality-of-life adjustments, and other changes, making it one of the most significant content rollouts Stardew Valley has received in years. But it’s not yet available for console players.

Currently, the update is only available for the game’s PC version. Console enthusiasts will have to wait slightly longer for the new update to be ported over. Here’s what we can expect about the timeline for the release of Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update on consoles.

AlthougStardew Valley‘s 1.6 update is currently live for PC users, the console and mobile ports for update 1.6 are still in development. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 14, the developer, Concerned Ape, expressed his understanding of the players on these platforms wanting to play the new content and said he is doing “everything within [his] power to have the ports ready as soon as possible.”

However, porting games takes time and requires much more effort, which is why update 1.6 has yet to have an official console or mobile release. While there’s no date for either just yet, past precedent may be the only real indicator we have to determine when the update might go live on other systems besides PCs.

Stardew‘s 1.5 update was released on PC in December 2020, and the console port went live just a few months later, in February 2021. The 1.4 update also took about four weeks to transfer from PC to console. So, it seems like it usually takes between four to 12 weeks to port over the PC updates to consoles and mobile devices.

If the 1.6 update follows a similar timeline to the previous ports, we could expect this update to hit consoles and mobile devices sometime between April and June. However, considering the size of the current changes and how much content has been added to Stardew in update 1.6, it’s possible it could take longer this time.

Another factor affecting when these ports will be released is PC patches and updates. The devs are currently working on another PC patch to fix bugs and issues, so they may want to resolve these before porting them over. This means the timeframe could be extended, which means these ports may not be ready until the second half of 2024.

At the time of writing, there is no information about when Stardew‘s update 1.6 will go live on the console, though ports are in development. This piece will be updated with any further info regarding a potential release date.
