Surprise! New content is coming tonight for Starfield, revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase, where Microsoft also teased the game’s upcoming Shattered Space expansion.
The surprise update coming tonight to Starfield will add custom creations, a custom creation kit, and content made by both Bethesda and fans to help expand the game with new items, weapons, skins, and other cool new stuff.
Shattered Space, meanwhile, looks to continue the storyline of the base game as the crew continues its exploration of deep space. It has a darker tone than the original game, and things look like they’re getting scarier and more serious than before.
Tonight’s update includes new bounties and new gear on top of the custom content. The custom content teased looks similar to what’s offered in other Bethesda games like Fallout, where players can upload their own content, find new content to add to their own game, and more. Custom ships, buildings, and suits are just the beginning of what is looking to be offered.
Currently, the Shattered Space expansion only has a tentative release date of 2024, so at the very least, players know that it will likely be coming out within the next six months or so. Fans of the game can get ready to save up their paid time off accordingly.
Starfield got off to a big start in 2023, but it felt like players moved on from the game’s storyline quite quickly as other titles were released. It will be interesting to see if Shattered Space draws players back in for the adventure or if the game has already passed its chance in the sun.
