Starfield’s first planned expansion, Shattered Space, is set to release this Fall. And while we have no clue what the next DLC is about, or when it’s coming, a trademark suggests it’s called Starborn.
First shared by Reddit user Quelanight2324 in a July 29 thread, ZeniMax Media, owner of Bethesda Softworks, filed a trademark for Starborn, which players speculate is the title of the next Starfield DLC set to release sometime after Shattered Space.
We have no concrete information on what the DLC will be about, or if Starborn is its actual title, but the name suggests it’s related the mysterious multiversal race that features prominently in Starfield’s main story.
As Shattered Space launches a year after the game’s initial release, we speculate Starborn will aim for a late 2025 or even 2026 release window. With the voice actors’ strike at SAG-AFTRA currently ongoing, which includes numerous companies that provide voicework for Bethesda itself, the development of Starfield’s next expansion could be hindered, pushing its release window further. But until we get more information about the expansion, it’s anyone’s guess.
Bethesda is actively seeking to improve and expand Starfield’s offering given the game’s less-than-stellar performance across all platforms. On Steam, Starfield sits at a “Mixed” review rating, with only 59 percent of players willing to recommend it. The developer is likely betting on the DLCs to improve sales and ratings after numerous substantial gameplay updates fixed several grievances with the base game.
Whenever it launches and whatever it contains, Starborn will probably be quite expansive, as Starfield desperately needs some substantial additions.
